Organizers of the French Grand Prix Formula 1 racing announced today, Monday, that the race has been canceled in light of the spread of the new epidemic "Corona" virus and that it "will not take place in 2020".

"In view of the evolving situation related to the spread of the Coruna virus, the French Grand Prix has taken note of the decisions announced by the French state, which makes it impossible to maintain our event," race president Eric Boulet said in a statement.

It is noteworthy that this race is the tenth that is canceled or postponed during the outbreak of the "Corona" virus, as Formula-1 seeks to save what can be saved from the 2020 season. There are hopes that the season will start with the Austrian Grand Prix on the fifth of next July without the presence of an audience.

The "Silverstone" circuit confirmed today, Monday, that the British Grand Prix will be held without an audience if there is a possibility to race from the ground up, two weeks later.

"It is clear that, in accordance with the current conditions in the country, the requests of the government currently placed and for the foreseeable future, it will be difficult, this year, to host the British Grand Prix in front of the fans in Silverstone," the track officials said in a statement.

The statement added: "Our obligations are to maintain the health and safety of everyone present in preparing and presenting the event, our volunteer guards and race makers and of course you, the spectacular fans, and this means that this is the most safe way and the best decision that can be made."
