The Mayor of Barcelona , Ada Colau , has released a new official vehicle in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, according to Global Chronicle . It would be a Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 'plug-in' hybrid valued at 45,350 euros , with a Zero Emissions label from the DGT, and which would replace the current petrol Seat Alhambra . A vehicle that is still on the list of the mobile park of the Barcelona City Council as assigned to Colau.

The 'plug-in' hybrids are vehicles that combine a combustion engine, usually gasoline as in this Peugeot, with one or more electric. The term 'pluggable' means that they can be connected to the electricity grid to charge the 'zero emissions' part. Unlike how a self-recharging hybrid does, it fills up on the go but with less autonomy than these PHEV (short for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle in English). Ada Colau opted in 2015 to replace the Audi A6 of her predecessor in office, Xavier Trías, with the Seat MPV, which can seat up to seven occupants.

With this acquisition, the mayoress of the Ciudad Condal would get a model that would carry the cleanest label of those granted by the DGT, thanks to the 59 kilometers of autonomy in electric mode that it homologates (Zero is obtained from 40 ). It has a power of 300 horsepower and all-wheel drive. It could therefore circulate without restrictions and with bonuses, for example, parking in both the Low Emission Zone of Barcelona and Madrid 360.

Although opting for the French brand, which produces this vehicle in plants like Sochaux, would be a jarring note in a municipal government-owned mobile park dominated by Nissan and Seat . Two brands with production centers in Catalonia. In fact, the official document of the vehicles used by the consistory dominate two ecological models: the Leaf of the Japanese ensign, 100% electric (label Zero); and the Lion of compressed natural gas (ECO label).

A PHEV and a 'zero emissions' of Seat for 2020

Currently there is no SUV in the Seat range with 'plug-in' hybrid technology, but the arrival of the Tarraco FR -the largest SUV of the firm- with this same technology is expected for the second quarter of the year . It would have 245 horses and 50 km. of electric autonomy (also label Zero). In addition, the launch of the second 100% electric Seat is planned, the first of the new generation, called el-Born by a neighborhood in Barcelona.

It has a 62 kWh capacity battery with which it would obtain 420 kilometers. With fast charge, since it supports powers up to 100 kW, it could fill 60% in just over 45 minutes. The Spanish brand has a 'zero emissions' in its range, the Mii electric, but with different functionality. It is a simple utility that could exceed 200 km. of autonomy.
