The Asian Olympic Council announced today the candidacy of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to host the Asian Games 2030. This is in addition to the candidacy of Doha as well. The Asian Olympic Council said that the two cities have submitted their candidacy file to host the 21st edition of the Games before the deadline expires on Wednesday.

The council added that each city's nomination file submitted by the National Olympic Committee was accompanied by a government support letter. Doha hosted the 15th edition of the Games in 2006, while Saudi Arabia did not organize any major sporting event under the supervision of the Asian Olympic Council. The President of the Asian Kuwaiti Council Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahd Al-Sabah said in a press statement today: The Asian Olympic Council is pleased to receive strong nominations to host the 30th edition of the Asian Games.

It is noteworthy that the last Asian Games were hosted by the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, and held in 2018.
