In the context of the health crisis linked to the new coronavirus, the National Rugby League (LNR) announced this Wednesday the abandonment of its scenario of resumption of the final stages of Top 14 in mid-July and the cancellation of the scheduled semi-finals in Nice in June.

“After taking stock of the situation, in particular on the work in progress of the medical commission on the recovery protocol and of the sports commission on the deadlines for 're-athletics' and preparation, the steering committee of the LNR decided l 'abandonment of scenario 1 of organization of the final stages of the Top 14 from the end of June until mid-July', the league said in a press release.

Return to the Côte d'Azur "during a next edition"

"As a result, the semifinals of the Top 14, initially scheduled for Nice on June 19 and 20, 2020 are canceled", adds the authority, which promises to return to the Côte d'Azur "during a next edition".

There remains scenario 2, that of a final phase at the end of summer: Bordeaux-Bègles against Toulon and Lyon against Racing 92 in half before a grand final at the Stade de France. For now, it is supposed to take place just before the first day of the 2020-2021 season.

The summer transfer window will also be extended until July 15 "to allow the clubs of Top 14 and Pro D2 to have greater latitude in the constitution of their membership".

Finally, the League has decided to soften its regulations concerning Jiff (Players from training sectors, that is to say trained in France) by not withdrawing points for the current season from clubs that have not reached the average of 16 Jiff on the scoresheet.
