The National Sports Federation (RF) has called special sports federations to an information meeting this afternoon. This is after the morning's press conference where RF and Sports Minister Amanda Lindh announced that the state's support package for the sport will be paid out first to midsummer.

It has already been clear that the sport will receive SEK 500 million in crisis support during the corona pandemic, but many had hoped that the money would be distributed much earlier.

- I think all of us who are engaged in sports in Sweden have a concern right now. It is very worrying, which is why it is important that this money comes out now, as soon as possible, says basketball union chairman Mats Carlson.

Expect explanation

TT: What do you think about the money not coming until this summer?

- There is certainly some reason for that. We will have a meeting with RF this afternoon, and I expect an explanation for that.

TT: Are you surprised they are delayed?

- It is not the timeframe indicated earlier, it is not. But I assume that there is a good explanation.

- At the meeting, I expect to get a good description of how we are in the process and when we can expect these funds. For the situation is worrying for the whole of sports Sweden right now.
