Thomas Bach International Olympic Committee (IOC) chairman refuted the allegations that it took time to make a decision to postpone the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

"I never hesitated to make a decision to postpone the Olympics," Bach said in an interview with the German weekly magazine Belt Am Zontak.

The worldwide pandemic of the new Coronavirus Infectious Disease (Corona19) was refuted against criticism that the National Olympic Committees requested requests to postpone or cancel the Olympics, but that Bach was unable to make a quick decision.

"If you are in charge, you shouldn't make decisions with intuition," said Bach. "It was a situation where the long-standing Olympic legacy was in crisis."

"At that time, we had a videoconference with sports representatives from around the world, but no one supported the cancellation of the Olympics," he said.

He added, "It is clear that the IOC was insured for the cancellation of the Olympics, but not for the delay."
