Japan is in distress due to the corona virus. Now questions are also being raised for the Tokyo Olympics, which has already been postponed for one year.

Toshiro Muto, president of the Olympic organization, says he cannot guarantee that the summer games can be arranged in 2021, even though they would be postponed further until the end of next year, the news agency AP writes according to NTB.

- I don't think anyone is capable of saying if it is possible to get it (the virus) under control until next summer. "We are definitely not in a position where we can give a clear answer," said Muto via an interpreter at a press conference.

Monthly emergency

The Olympics have been postponed from July to August this year until the same time next year. The Games will start on July 23, while Paralympics will begin on August 24.

Earlier this week, Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced a month-long emergency in much of the country to curb the corona eruption.
