In a brief announcement on the team's website, Leeds confirms that the former defense star has tested positive for corona and is in hospital.

Hunter made a total of 726 matches during 15 seasons for Leeds. He won the league twice as well as the FA Cup and the League Cup once, in addition he played in the European Cup Final 1975 against Bayern Munich.

He also won with 28 international matches for England and was part of the classic national team that won the World Cup gold at home in 1966, although he did not play any match. In the 1974 season, he was named Football Player of the Year in England by the PFA members.

Hunter, nicknamed "Bites yer legs", had a reputation for being a tough and tough inner back. Only three players have made more appearances for Leeds in the club's history.
