Ada Hegerberg has won everything with French Lyon and was the first female player to take home the Ballon d'Or when it began to be awarded in 2018. The 24-year-old is a strong voice in the football world.

The Norwegian is worried about the future of women's football because of the corona pandemic and its financial consequences.

- It is very important that women's football does not lose position. Obviously, men's football is a priority given all questions about the economy and when to start the leagues, but it is very important that women's football is not run away, Hegerberg told AFP.

- We will sit on the second row in all this, but we must not fade into the background.

"There is uncertainty everywhere"

Given that the footballing economy is crashing due to the corona pandemic, there are no guarantees.

- Women's football is still at an early stage and we have to push it forward with the same rights, whatever happens is decided. Men's football also needs to be stable in order for us to receive financial help before we can begin to support ourselves, Hegerberg says.

- Considering how the men's clubs are struggling, you can only imagine how this will affect the ladies. It's hard to say where women's soccer will be in weeks, months or years. There is uncertainty everywhere. But there are so many other parts of society that are struggling too.
