Edmonton player Colby Cave is still in a coma after undergoing an operation on Tuesday where a cyst pushing against his brain was removed.

Cave had a headache during Monday night and felt bad during the night. The family took him to the hospital in the morning, where he was found to have suffered a brain haemorrhage. He was then placed in an artificial coma.

His family has not been able to visit him at the hospital due to the risk of covid-19 infection. "Please wake up, please wake up", his wife Emily Cave writes on Instagram and continues: "We need a miracle".

Thank you for your support

"Colby's parents and I got to see him through a window and talk to him via a walkie talkie last night. Now we no longer have to go into the hospital because of the covid-19 rules. We have no idea when we will see him again, ”she writes.

In a press release, the family thanks the hockey team, all the supporters and the medical staff for all the support they received.

Caves team captain Edmonton's big star Connor McDavid said in a video interview on Thursday that the entire team has him in his mind.

- It's awful. Colby is such a strong guy - a good Saskatchewan guy. No one is stronger than he is, if anyone can get away with it, it's Colby, "says McDavid, according to the Edmonton Sun, and urges all supporters to give Cave and his family an extra thought.

"We are all stuck indoors"

- To all the supporters out there, keep Colby and his family in your thoughts and prayers. That's all we can do, we're all stuck indoors. But we can think of him and pray that he gets through this, and that his family does. I can't even imagine how difficult it is for them.

Colby Cave played eleven games in the NHL this season, scoring one goal. He also played 44 games for the Bakersfield farm team.

Three Swedes play in Edmonton, the slopes Oscar Klefbom and Adam Larsson and the forward Joakim Nygård. The NHL was paused on March 12, the league's management has not given up hope of being able to play the season clearly.
