Already before the 2017/2018 season, Johannes Hösflot Kläbo wanted to have a place in the all-round team, to develop more as a distance rider. Then he had to settle for the sprint team and was openly disappointed. Before this season, however, he got through his will and switched to the all-around team.

In March, Kläbo expressed that he has been missing the joy lately and does not feel that he has fun at work every day.

- Then you have to start searching, and find back to the spark where the most fun you know is to race and train. I miss the game, to use such a word, he told NRK.

Now maybe Kläbo has found the way back to the lust again - by switching back to the sprint team.

"That's what I feel most like, and that I feel is best for me," he says in a press release.

He should have come to this after summing up the season that was, along with Dad Haakon, and thinking about what suits him best for the upcoming season when both the World Cup and a World Cup are on the schedule.

- It's a decision I make based on pleasure and joy, not because of dissatisfaction. I think that is a good basis for me to realize the goals I have.

"Must have respect for it"

He also clarifies that both he and his longtime coach, his grandfather, think it fits his development better with the sprint team.

Kläbo, however, states that he is not happy with his development as a distance rider, although he would have liked to have been "a few notches up" in the distance cup given the overall World Cup victory (won by Alexander Bolshunov).

However, national team manager Espen Bjervig cannot promise that Kläbo will get his will through immediately.

- Johannes has wanted to switch back to the sprint team, and when one of the world's best skiers pronounces it, we have to listen and respect it. But ultimately, it is we who put the team together, and those teams become public in late April or late May, Bjervig tells NTB.
