It was yesterday that Toni Kroos criticized wage cuts.

- It's like a donation to nothing. Or to the club. I am for a full payout and that it is then up to everyone to do wise things with the money, Kroos told SWR according to Marca.

Despite this, Real Madrid choose to do like several other football clubs in Spanish La Liga and lower their salaries.

Players and leaders have agreed to cut salaries by between 10 and 20 percent in order for the club to avoid lowering the salaries of other employees during the corona pandemic, Real writes in a statement.

Seville: Measures necessary

The pay cut is smaller than at other clubs in the league. Seville, for example, cuts wages by up to 70 percent, which has also been decided by Barcelona's players before. In Seville's case, this applies to both coaches and players as well as others around the A-squad.

With the league postponed indefinitely and huge loss of revenue for the clubs, the measures are necessary, believes Sevilla's club lead.

Under Spanish law, employers can lower wages by up to 70 percent in extreme circumstances.

Javier Tebas, the league chairman, said Tuesday that he expects the vast majority of clubs in the top series to cut wages well.
