England's Premier League (EPL) players, the world's richest professional football league, oppose the League Secretariat and the club's demand to cut 30 percent of their annual salary.

The British broadcaster BBC and the public newspaper The Sun reported on the 5th (Korea time) that the British Professional Football Players Association (PFA) announced its opposition to the annual salary cuts at a video teleconference with the EPL Secretariat.

At the meeting, the PFA argued that cutting the salaries of players at the request of the club would seriously impact the finances of the National Health Service (NHS) at war with Coronavirus Infection-19 (Corona 19).

PFA said, "If the 30% annual salary is cut in the next 12 months, the wage will be reduced by 500 million pounds (about 780 billion won), resulting in less taxes of 200 million pounds (about 330 billion won)." It would be a significant burden on the NHS. "

The PFA emphasized, "I don't know how much the EPL has considered how much the salary cuts will bring to the NHS."

Earlier, EPL decided to stop the league by the end of the month.

However, the resumption of the league in May seems opaque, as Corona 19's momentum has not eased across the UK.

The clubs in the financial crisis unanimously decided to conditionally cut or postpone 30% of their salary.

EPL decided to support the lower league teams by raising £ 125 million (approximately 110 billion won).

In addition, it announced that it would use 20 million pounds (about 30 billion won) to support the NHS, the community, and the vulnerable.

However, players are distrustful, saying that cutting salary is only a profitable decision for rich owners.

According to the report, one player said in a video conference, "All the owners are rich, why should we cut the salary for them?"

Another player said, "We also know that the league is facing a major crisis because of Corona 19." We just want to help people who really need help. "
