The corona virus plagues the United States. The virus is spreading fast and several states have lockdown. It is unclear when society will open again and it is uncertain when sport can start again in the country.
ESPN reports that President Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with several of the major US sports commissioners and presidents on Saturday. Trump then expressed a willingness to start the sport this summer.
The president would like the NFL to start the season as scheduled on September 10. He also hopes that the NHL and NBA can get started in August or September with crowds. At the press conference last night, he talked about the situation.
- The sports leagues are longing to get back to normal. They want to go back, they have to go back. They cannot handle such a crisis. Sports are not made for this, our society is not made for this. We have to go back - and it quickly, very quickly, says Trump.
