The General Director of the Asian Olympic Council Mr. Hussein Al-Musallam revealed that 44 Asian Olympic Committees have sent numbers of their athletes so far to participate in the Sixth Asian Beach Games scheduled in Sanya, China, from November 28 to December 6, 2020.

And the Muslim said in press statements: "44 Asian Olympic Committees have sent their athletes to participate in the Asian Beach Games, and the deadline for closing the registration door for participation will be on April 13th."

He added: "The total number in the Asian Beach Games is usually about 3,000 athletes, but the number has now reached 5,000, and this number is expected to decrease by about 20 percent."

A few days ago, the Muslim had referred to the return of tourism to Sanya, and considered that the recovery of the city's tourism sector was a major step on the road to the Asian Beach Games, after almost all sporting activities in the world had stopped due to the outbreak of the Corona virus - Covid 19.

Sanya is a major tourist destination in southern China's Hainan Island Province, and it is known as "Hawaii China" because of its long golden beaches, tropical climate and luxurious resorts.

The city's tourism, culture, radio, television, and sports bureau had made it clear that about two weeks ago, tourist sites in Sanya had received 74,000 tourists since it reopened to the public on February 21. This is in addition to the return of 23 thousand employees in the field of tourism to their work.

The Asian Beach Games in Sanya program includes competitions in 17 sports: Aquathlon (swimming), water sports (open water swimming and water polo competition), beach athletics, speedboat races, dragon boat races, mini basketball, climbing, ball Beach hand, beach football, beach volleyball, wood ball, martial arts (beach wrestling and jujitsu), beach kabadi, surfing, sail, kissing and paragliding.

The Asian Olympic Council launched the 2008 Asian Beach Games, the first edition was held in Bali, Indonesia, followed by the Omani capital Muscat in 2010, then the Chinese Haiyang in 2012, the Thai Phuket in 2014, and finally Danang in Vietnam in 2016.
