The 23-year-old is in Colombia (Zipaquira outside Bogota) who quarantined the residents until April 13. At the beginning of time in quarantine, Bernal used a test cycle but he has now put it down.

- I exercise nothing, whether physically or mentally, says Bernal via his social media.

Given his position as national idol, the first South American to win the Tour de France, something he achieved last year, he urges people to stay home and respect the quarantine. He wants to set a good example.

Will start training indoors

He has the plan ready for him.

- I will probably start training indoors for five, six days before I start cycling outdoors. I don't learn to have lost so much of what I've built up since December, says Bernal, who thinks he should shoot at the Tour de France.

- This situation affects us all and there is a risk that some participants have not been able to prepare in the best way. It would be better if the race was postponed until later in the season, says Bernal, who wants fair conditions in the competition.

The organizer of the tour, which is scheduled June 27 to July 19, has given itself a deadline to May 15 before having to make a decision on the competition.
