Algeria's Etihad Club, holder of the Algerian Professional League title, has started effective steps to reduce the salaries of its players following the stalling of competitions in light of the crisis left by the pandemic of the emerging Corona Virus pandemic. The club's president, Achour Jalloul, stated that the club’s board of directors decided to reduce the players ’salaries, in case the league stoppage continues, beyond the 19th of this year, which is the date set by the Algerian Ministry of Youth and Sports as a precautionary measure to resume football activity, which means for many that the matter is official. It is impossible to continue competitions within the specified period.

Al-Ittihad is the first Arab team to start moving officially to reduce the salaries of players. Ashour told Algerian radio today: "We cannot continue in this way, we will have to review the salaries of players, this is imperative." On the other hand, Ashour Jalloul revealed that medical equipment, including respirators, will be donated to the central pharmacy of hospitals, affiliated with the Ministry of Health, next Sunday to support efforts to combat the Corona virus.
