However, there is still hope to be able to complete this year's cup final between Club Bruges and Royal Antwerp.

The premature closure of the league also means that Mikael Lustig's two-legged Gent is ready for qualifying for this fall's Champions League, while Charleroi, Antwerp and Standard Liège will qualify for the Europa League.

The league win for Bruges is the club's 16th over the years.
