The Wimbledon tournament, which was to be held from June 29 to July 12 , has been canceled on Wednesday due to the coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the planet. The third Grand Slam of the season thus suffers its first cancellation since World War II.

"It is with great sorrow that the board of the All England Club and the Wimbledon organizing committee have decided that the 2020 championships are to be canceled due to public health concerns linked to the coronavirus pandemic," the tournament said in a statement.

The 134th edition of Wimbledon will be held from June 28 to July 11, 2021.
