Helsingborgs IF called a press conference on Monday and announced that the ongoing corona crisis is affecting the club's finances so badly that their elite license is in danger.

And HIF doesn't seem to be alone. In all Sweden, there seems to be a great concern for the economy in these times and the clubs have therefore had a desire to pause the elite license for the time being.

The Swedish Football Association has now chosen to investigate the matter. At a federal board meeting on Tuesday, it was decided to review the elite license in view of the epidemic.

“The association will now also take into account the impact of the current epidemic on the clubs' ability to meet the licensing requirements. The elite license has an important and long-term function. Already the current regulations allow the Licensing Board to grant a license, even in the event of shortcomings, if there are special reasons, such as circumstances that the association could not foresee or otherwise control, ”writes the association on its website.
