The registrations of passenger cars and SUVs in Spain reached a volume of 37,644 units during the past month of March, which represents a collapse of 69.3% in the comparison with the 122,659 units delivered in that month of the previous year, according to data from the associations of manufacturers (Anfac), dealers (Faconauto) and sellers (Ganvam). This is the second lowest figure since they are registered and behind that of September 2012 (35,148).

Weighed down by the coronavirus crisis, which has forced the closure of practically all commerce, the sale of passenger cars to individuals fell 67.5% (16,871 registrations), to companies 66.9% (12,613) and to renters 74 , 9% (8,160) .

The sharp fall experienced in car sales in March is explained by the expansion of the coronavirus and the measures adopted by the Government, among which the limitation of population mobility stands out , which led to the closure of dealerships and the practical stoppage of the automotive market.

Between January and March, car sales in Spain stood at 218,705 units, a 31% reduction compared to the 316,890 units sold during the first quarter of last year
