The reason why the outside world thinks that March 29 is the deadline for Sun Yang's appeal period is because CAS announced the verdict on February 28. However, according to relevant regulations, the appeal period should start from the date when the parties or their attorneys received the original judgment. If the judgment is sent by mail, it is obviously difficult for Sun Yangfang to receive the original judgment on February 28. The date is also a few days later than previously expected, that is, April 1 or 2.

Professionals predict that the deadline for Sun Yang's appeal may be postponed to the end of April or May.

Knowing the verdict, Sun Yang said on social media on February 28 that he would entrust lawyers to appeal to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court.
