The Gulf Basketball Organizing Committee announced the postponement of the Champions Clubs Championship in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in its 40th edition, which was scheduled to be held between May 29 and the sixth of June next, to be held from September 18 to 26 this year.

The committee also decided to cancel the Gulf Championship for the junior under-16 teams, which was scheduled to be held next August in Bahrain.

The Gulf Organizing Committee confirmed, in a statement, that: "The postponement of the men's club championship and the cancellation of the junior teams are within the framework of ensuring the safety of all participants, including players, coaches, arbitration teams, organizers and the media, as part of the precautionary measures to combat the emerging Corona virus."

The Organizing Committee has set, at the end of next August, a final date for the Gulf federations, in order to complete the remaining championships of the current season 2019-2020, to determine the identity of the league champion, who is entitled to participate in the Gulf Clubs Championship next September.

The committee explained: "The Gulf Championship for young men born in 2005-2006 will take place in the summer of 2021, with the Bahraini Union retaining the right to organize, and that the date for its establishment be determined at the first meeting that the Gulf Organizing Committee will hold."

It is noteworthy that the Al-Ahly and Sharjah youth teams dominated the titles of the Gulf basketball clubs for men in the past five years, after the “Dubai Knights” achieved three successive tournaments (2015, 2016 and 2017), before the “King” won the title of the last two copies in 2018 And 2019.
