Like all football, Barça has been stopped for several weeks now because of the coronavirus pandemic. To compensate for the absence of competitions and therefore of cash inflows, the Catalan club intends to reduce the salaries of its staff.

The suspension of competitions, following the Covid-19 epidemic, "results in the cessation of all activities, sporting and non-sporting, of our club", indicates in a press release Barça which took a "series of measures to mitigate its effects and reduce the economic consequences of this crisis ”.

"Essentially, it is a reduction in the working day, imposed by the circumstances and the protective measures taken, and, consequently, the proportional reduction in the remuneration provided for in the respective contracts", explains the Catalan club without specifying the scale of the decrease or if all of its employees are affected.

Barça simply states that it wants to apply these measures "scrupulously respecting labor regulations, on the basis of the criteria of proportionality and above all equity". In addition to these economic measures, the club has also announced that it will make its facilities available to the Catalan health authorities.

Spain has recorded 4,089 deaths and 56,188 confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to a last official report Thursday after having become the day before the second country in the world with the most deaths from Covid-19, behind Italy, but ahead of China, where the epidemic started.
