While Sef represents all 32 elite clubs on the men's side - in the all-Swedish and the super-elite - the clubs in the ladies' swan and the elite are represented by the Elite Football Ladies (EFD). The two associations, together with Ettanfotboll, which represents the men's division 1, have agreed to request an extended transition window.

Swedish football has two transitional windows, the period when clubs are allowed to recruit players. The first in twelve weeks (January 8-March 31) and the second in four weeks (July 15-August 11).

It is the first window that the clubs have in common now asking the International Football Association Fifa to be extended.

The day before kick off

Due to the corona crisis, the kick off of the football series was postponed until the end of May or early June. Now the clubs want the window to be extended until the day before the first kick off in the first round, when it is now.

- We will see if we are forced to revise it, but we wrote it as a starting point. We are used to starting playing in early April, says Svante Samuelsson, Sports Manager at Sef.

TT: Do you need "two weeks" from the other window then?

- We have written this on the condition that the window, where we have four weeks in the summer, should not be adversely affected.

Hoping for flexibility

Svante Samuelsson emphasizes that it is a special season.

- We hope they are flexible under these extreme conditions, he says.

According to Reuters, Fifa would meet on Thursday and discuss issues that, among other things, the possibility for the leagues to move transitional windows.

Samuelsson does not know how the offsets affect borrowed players from other leagues. He, on the other hand, speculates that in such cases the negotiations are with individual clubs.

The closing of the current window is approaching with a leap.

- They have a lot of different issues to discuss, but it is important to have a quick message as March 31 is soon here, says Svante Samuelsson.
