Tottenham striker Harry Kane said he was on the way back from a back thigh muscle when the English Premier League competitions resumed after forced suspension due to the SK virus.

The England captain underwent surgery after an injury he suffered during a confrontation against Southampton on the first day of the new year, and he is expected to return to training next month.

"In terms of qualification, and personally, I am doing well. I am in a good stage now and making a great effort and recovering well, and I just want to know what will happen to the season," Kane told the Tottenham website.

"I am not very far, I hope to return to the team in two or three weeks. I am in a good stage, I do everything, and it is about regaining my fitness," he added.

Kane scored 17 goals with Tottenham this season, before his injury during the defeat against Southampton, and then the London team fell from sixth to eighth in the season finals in the Golden Square and qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Spurs are four points behind Manchester United, the team they would have faced, before Coruna's outbreak stopped the Premier League nine rounds before the end of the season.

There will be no matches until April 30, and clubs will meet next week to discuss next steps.

"It is a strange and unprecedented situation, we have to look at the positives, and do our best," said Kane, 26.
