Although the 1916, 1940, and 1944 versions of the Olympics were not constructed due to World War I and II, the decision to postpone the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo on Tuesday came to become this first version that would not be held in time in peace time.

Since the start of the modern Olympic Games in 1896 under the umbrella of the International Olympic Committee, not only three sessions have taken place in the history of the Olympics, in 1916 in the German capital Berlin because of World War I, 1940 in Tokyo, and 1944 in London because of World War II.

But the new Corona virus, which has turned into a global pandemic, will cause the Olympics not to be held for the first time on schedule in peacetime as the upcoming version of the Olympics in Tokyo has been postponed until 2021.

For decades after 1944, the Olympics overcame all obstacles, difficulties, political and armed conflicts, financial crises, doping scandals, corruption, and boycotts from some countries, until the Coruna virus came.

The 1980 Olympics in Moscow saw the boycott of several countries such as Japan, China, the United States and West Germany, in protest of the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan.

Four years later, the Soviet Union led the eastern bloc to boycott the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, while many countries, especially African, boycotted the 1976 Olympics in Montreal because the International Olympic Committee had not taken a decision to suspend New Zealand after its national rugby team visited South Africa under apartheid.

The Olympics sometimes used a platform to support political ideologies, the most prominent of which was at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Nazi Germany.

Now, the epidemic Corona virus has done only the World War, causing the Olympics not to be held on schedule, after increasing pressure and criticism from sports federations and athletes toward the International Olympic Committee.

The International Olympic Committee and the Organizing Committee for the Tokyo Olympics announced today the official postponement of the activities of this edition of the Olympic Games for one year to be held in 2021.

The statement of the International Olympic Committee stated that the goal of the postponement is to protect the health and safety of athletes and all participants in the Olympic Games and the international community.
