“In the current environment, as well as on the basis of information provided today by WHO, IOC President Thomas Bach and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe concluded that the Olympic Games in Tokyo should be postponed to a date after 2020, but no later than the summer of 2021 , to ensure the health of athletes, all participants of the Games and the international community, ”reads the message of the IOC.
Games in Tokyo were to begin on July 24, 2020 and end on August 9.
