Ski race

In a recent interview with RT, Alexander Bolshunov, the owner of the World Cup in skiing, said that he did not feel financially secure, despite all his victories in the current and previous seasons. Moreover, it was he who earned the most prize money among Russian athletes following the results of winter competitions.

According to the official statistics of the International Ski Federation (FIS), during his performance at the World Cup stages, Bolshunov earned 168,070 Swiss francs (about 13.8 million rubles) - this is the largest earnings in cross-country skiing for the season among men, only the Norwegian Teresa earned more Yochaug, who became the owner of 260,950 francs (21.4 million rubles).

But Bolshunov could have earned even more if it had not been for the coronavirus pandemic, due to which the last races were canceled. At the same time, we must not forget that some of the funds athletes must return in the form of taxes.

Natalia Nepryaeva expectedly had the highest income among Russian skiers. In the overall ranking for the season, she took third place with an indicator of 94,150 francs (7.7 million rubles). At the same time, a year ago Nepryaeva earned 25,175 francs (2 million rubles at the current rate) more. Bolshunov, compared with the same period last year, revenue increased by 28,445 francs (2.3 million rubles).

Earnings of the remaining Russian skiers are more modest. Sergey Ustyugov received 69,900 francs (5.7 million rubles), and Andrey Melnichenko - 23,150 francs (1.9 million rubles). The income of the girls was an order of magnitude lower. The second among the Russians was Nina Dubotolkina with a total of 1,400 francs (115 thousand rubles). In the overall ranking among women, this indicator was not included in the top 50.

Biathlon

The second most profitable sport for Russians was biathlon. Alexander Loginov managed to earn € 120,900 (10.4 million rubles). This amount includes the prize for all the hits in the top twenty in personal races at the stages of the World Cup and World Cup, where he won the gold medal in the sprint. Loginov also earned by participating in relay races and getting into the top 10 overall standings at the end of the season. At the same time, the owner of the Big Crystal Globe Johannes Boe received almost three times more - € 320 800 (27.8 million rubles).

Earnings of the remaining Russians is difficult to compare with Loginov's prize. The closest to him was Matvey Eliseev, who earned € 50,700 (4.4 million rubles) for his results. The best in the Russian women's team earned less. So, Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht received € 33,350 (2.9 million rubles) at the end of the season. Svetlana Mironova, who once managed to win personal bronze, boasts € 27,200 (2.3 million rubles).

Figure skating

In figure skating, earnings at official competitions are far from the only source of profit for athletes - all the same, the main part of their income is performances in ice shows. But if you calculate how much the best of the skaters get for good results in the main tournaments, then the amounts are also good.

Most of the Russian skaters at the stages of the Grand Prix and the European Championship earned Alyona Kostornaya. Four victories in these competitions brought her more than $ 75 thousand (6 million rubles). Anna Shcherbakova and Alexandra Trusova performed a little worse this season and received, respectively, a little less - $ 65 thousand (5.2 million) and $ 56 thousand (4.5 million).

In terms of financial performance, only the remaining triumphs of the last European Championship got to the trio of students of Eteri Tutberidze. According to the results of the season, Dmitry Aliyev made a fortune of $ 43 thousand (3.5 million rubles). Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky earned $ 69 thousand (5.5 million rubles) for two. Dancers Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov, thanks to a victory in the European championship, brought their income to $ 66 thousand (5.3 million rubles).

It remains to sympathize with the skaters that the main tournament for them from a financial point of view, the world championship, did not take place. In the remaining winter sports, only a few stages of the World Cup were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the losses there were not as significant as in figure skating.

Skiing

Most of the money during the season was played in skiing. Even taking into account the cancellation of a number of races, 23 athletes immediately earned more than 100 thousand francs (8.2 million rubles). The absolute record was set by the American Michaela Shifrin - she put 391 322 Swiss francs (32.1 million rubles) at her own expense.

The Russians were not among the lucky. Alexander Khoroshilov, who once took third place at the stage in Wengen, earned the most expected earnings. During the season, he received 20,009 francs (1.6 million rubles). At the same time, that bronze medal brought the 36-year-old athlete almost half of his income. The second among Russian skiers was Pavel Trikhichev. Thanks to a large number of starts, he earned 11,325 francs (928 thousand rubles).

Girls did not dream of such income. Julia Pleshkova, Ekaterina Tkachenko and Alexandra Prokopieva together earned only 4,450 francs (364 thousand rubles). Pleshkova received slightly more than half of this amount.

Ski Jumping

They get more modestly in the Russian national ski jumping team. Team leader Yevgeny Klimov spent the season without medals, and his best result was seventh in the Lillehammer stage. Such a performance allowed him to earn 13,950 francs (1.1 million rubles). The Austrian Stefan Kraft, who won the overall World Cup standings, received 14 times more - 199,400 francs (16.3 million rubles).

Dmitry Vasilyev put 500 francs (41 thousand rubles) in his wallet, and Roman Trofimov - only 300 francs (24.5 thousand rubles). Sofia Tikhonova earned 7562 francs (617 thousand rubles), Irina Avvakumova - 5529 francs (451 thousand rubles), and Lidia Yakovleva - 4066 francs (332 thousand rubles). At the same time, the girls' total prize pool is traditionally less, so even the Austrian Chiara Hölzl’s figure is not so impressive - 46,890 francs (3.8 million rubles).

Freestyle and snowboard

In freestyle and snowboard, fewer prize money is won than in other ski disciplines. Only the top ten get the money, and in the parallel types of snowboard and border cross-country - the first 16.

In these two sports, the best snowman of all was the Russians Dmitry Loginov. He earned 25,320 francs (2 million rubles). Another slalom player Andrei Sobolev gave him a little, who got 22,545 francs (1.8 million rubles). Sofia Nadyrshina secured a very good profit in her first adult season - at 16 she received 15,075 francs (1.2 million rubles).

In freestyle, the best among Russians was the winner of the overall World Cup standings in half-pipe. All her medals brought her 24,225 francs (1.9 million rubles). Alas, in this discipline for the season there were only five starts, so the Russian athlete had to limit herself to this amount. At the same time, the best freestyle artist from the acrobatics team, which has more competitions, earned almost the same amount. Pavel Krotov, who finished the season in second place, received 23,792 francs (1.9 million rubles), and Maxim Burov - 18,854 francs (1.5 million).
