The French Tennis Federation (FFT) formalized the news on Tuesday, March 17 in the afternoon: the Roland-Garros tennis tournament is postponed for three months and will be held from September 20 to October 4. This decision is obviously linked to the coronavirus epidemic which has been paralyzing Europe for several weeks. The work at Porte d'Auteuil having been stopped since Tuesday noon for health reasons, the postponement had become inevitable.

This change is likely to shake up a schedule already largely disrupted in the world of international tennis. The start of the French Open in September would only take place a week after the US Open final, if the American tournament keeps its dates (August 24 to September 13). To date, the ATP and WTA circuits are frozen until April for men and May for women.
