At lunchtime on Tuesday, the message came that the soccer championship that was to be played in the summer of 2020 will be moved to the summer of 2021 because of the corona situation.

- It was very much expected and nice that there will be a message because there will be a lot of speculation, says Markus Johannesson.

Claims from the leagues

Italy's football federation, which is one of the worst-hit countries, has come out and said they want to move the championship to be able to play their domestic league - something several other countries have agreed to. Johannesson believes this is a big reason for the decision.

- When Italy, Spain and these big big football nations go out and say we need to move it forward, we should play our leagues clearly, then it will be, he says and continues:

- All leagues have been waiting for this message because you do not know how to otherwise be able to complete their own domestic leagues. There is an incredible amount of money involved for these clubs to be able to play in front of the public and so on.

SVT Sports commentator, Chris Härenstam, also thinks this was necessary for the leagues to be able to continue playing.

- They are a huge relief because this is the solution. This means that several leagues can play clearly the seasons, whether it is now in spring, summer or even autumn, he says.
