The IOC calms the game. Unlike the world of football, more or less about to postpone 2020 to 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic, the International Olympic Committee considers that "there is no need to take radical decisions ”four months before the deadline.

The IOC, which held a telephone meeting of its Executive Commission on Tuesday morning, remains "fully engaged" regarding the Tokyo Olympics (July 24-August 9) and believes in a statement that "any speculation at this stage would be counterproductive", in reference to a possible postponement or cancellation.

The body says it "will continue to monitor the situation [of the pandemic] 24 hours a day, seven days a week" and will act on two overarching principles: to protect the health of all those involved and to protect the interests of athletes and of Olympic sport.
