For Peter Gerhardsson, it does not matter when the European Championships will eventually be played. But he understands that several players get frustrated when it is postponed, and at worst can be postponed for a year.

- The players are different. There are different people in different stages of life. It is different with the number of international matches and so on. So you want to have this as a carrot, he tells SVT Sport.

But for Gerhardsson, there is a greater focus on matches and major championships that are closer in time than the European Championships.

- For me it is that we are ready for the Olympics and it is the great championship that lies closest. Then we have the European Championships, which we have to qualify for.

He also does not think that the crisis surrounding the Corona pandemic or postponing the European Championships is something that he as a coach should comment on, but that there are better suited people to answer those questions.

- It's just like life. There are specialists in different areas, and you should have respect for those who make wise decisions within it.
