The European Football Association (UEFA) is just a few hours away from discussing the possible postponement of the European Championship (Euro 2020) and agreeing on other steps that are supposed to be taken in light of the crisis of the spread of the Corona virus, which has cast a large number of sporting events, including football tournaments European.

UEFA President Alexander Severin will hold a video meeting today with representatives of the 55 member federations of the European Union, the European Clubs Association (Ica), European Football League leagues and the International Federation of Professional Footballers (Vivabro).

UEFA stated that the discussion on "all domestic and continental championships in Europe, including Euro 2020" will take place today.

Officials of the majority of domestic league competitions in Europe are likely to support the idea of ​​postponing Euro 2020, which is supposed to take place in 12 European countries between June 12 and July 12 next.

In the event that Euro 2020 is postponed, this will provide an opportunity to complete local league competitions, but UEFA will face the challenge of finding another suitable alternative date for the tournament.

On Monday, the Italian Football Association and Italian Serie A clubs confirmed their support for the postponement of the European Championship.

"The rescheduling is the path we must take now," Italian Federation President Gabriele Gravina said in televised remarks.

The UEFA members are also supposed to decide how to proceed to complete the Champions League and European League competitions, as the final price matches in both tournaments were suspended, as well as the postponement of the quarter-finals draw due to the increasing spread of the Corona virus.
