Yesterday, SHL and SDHL announced that they wanted to end their playoffs due to the spread of the corona virus. Luleå Hockey was in the final on the women's side and the men's team won the basic series in SHL with 14 points. None of the teams now have a chance to take an SM gold.

The Swedish Ice Hockey Association writes in its decision that “because the playoffs cannot be played as planned, the regulations do not allow any Swedish champion to be chased. Therefore, no Swedish Master is scored in any category ”.

- I think this is how SIF (Swedish Ice Hockey Association) has dealt with both issues regarding SHL and SDHL. We have full respect for the decision and assume that they have made a wise decision for the best of Swedish ice hockey, says Luleå Hockey's CEO Stefan Enbom.

Luleå has also not pushed the question that they should be awarded the SM gold for winning the basic series in SHL.

- We have completely left this to the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and accepted the decisions they have made. They are aware of the regulations and make decisions based on the best of hockey and we have no views on it.

"Extremely turbulent"

Like many other elite clubs, the set season will affect Luleå Hockey.

- The last days have been extremely turbulent. Now we are in the middle of a process where we will regroup the strengths to ensure a good end to the season and lay a good foundation for the future.

- Of course, there is a lot of focus on the economy and we will be tested hard financially, we know that.

What will this mean?

- Right now there are many parameters that are now unknown and how it will affect in the end. What we do know is that we need to make a whole new budget for next year and we will work with that in the near future. This will take a few weeks before everything is ready -

- It's very empty for all of us right now. But this is what we need to get through as soon as possible in order for us to gather power for the future. Right now it's heavy, says Stefan Enbom.
