Juventus Turin defender Daniele Rugani tested positive for COVID-19, the virus causing a global pandemic, the Italian club announced on Wednesday, specifying that the player currently has an "asymptomatic" picture.

"Juventus is currently activating all the planned isolation procedures, including the census of all persons who have been in contact with it," the club wrote.

It is the second case of a footballer from the major European leagues, as Timo Hübers , a player at Hannover 96, also tested positive for coronavirus a few hours earlier, as reported by his team in a statement.

Rugani, 25-year-old central defender, was on the bench last Sunday in the game played by Juventus against Inter Milan in Serie A. His last game as a starter was on February 22, always in Serie A, against the Spal de Ferrara. He was also part of the youth expedition that visited Lyon on February 26.
