Washington did his best in the decisive penalty against Buffalo's Linus Ullmark, who was back on the ice after the injury he sustained at the end of January.

Only Kuznetsov managed to get the puck in against the Swedish star goalkeeper. And it turns out that Ullmark has been considering some of the penalties.

- Last year I looked at how Hutts (Carter Hutton) is doing. He stays calm and concentrates on what to do. I took it to myself. When we have a penalty, I look down and just care about myself, Ullmark tells MSG after the match.

"Get it over with"

Ullmark was so concentrated on his that he missed when compatriot Rasmus Dahlin set his first NHL penalty, a beauty that contained a fine shot before the puck was placed between the legs of Braden Holtby. Buffalo's decisive penalty shooter became Dominik Kahun, before Ullmark saved Panik's attempt.

Ullmark seemed quite pleased with his efforts, and was named one of the game's best players with 33 saves on 35 shots.

- You do not know how it goes in the first match (after an injury), it is better to get it overstated, and fortunately that ended well, says Ullmark to MSG.

Ovetjkin netted

Ullmark held tight for the first two periods, when Buffalo managed to create a 2-0 lead through Victor Olofsson and Jack Eichel. Rasmus Dahlin was noted for assist in both goals, and Marcus Johansson also got one for the first goal.

Only three minutes into the third, Ullmark's zero was broken, when Alexander Ovetjkin shot in his 48th for the season.

- It is important to be patient, to stand on your feet for as long as possible. He got me once, but I think I got him three times, says Ullmark about what it's like to meet the league's best scorer.

Dmitrij Orlov then managed to acknowledge and take the match to a speechless extension.
