Table Tennis World Tour “Ogimura Cup” Postponed New Coronavirus March 10 17:34

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, one of the table tennis world tours scheduled to be held in Kitakyushu next month, "Ogimura Cup" has been postponed. Continued postponements of the world tour may affect the world rankings that determine the seeds for the Tokyo Olympics.

The Japan Open, “Ogimura Cup” is one of the world tours organized by the International Table Tennis Federation, and this event was scheduled to be held in Kitakyushu from 21 to 26 next month.

However, due to the spread of the new coronavirus worldwide, the International Table Tennis Federation and the Japan Table Tennis Association have decided to postpone the tournament.

According to the Japan Table Tennis Association, "holding an international tournament in late April is inevitable in consideration of the health and various aspects of players and spectators."

It means that we will discuss the new schedule for the next event.

The World Tour is scheduled to take place in Hong Kong and China in May, and the International Table Tennis Federation will soon announce its policy on whether to hold these two tournaments.
