Last summer was magical for Nilla Fischer and the rest of the football team that took a World Cup bronze in France. But the return to Linköping and the Allsvenskan was not at all what the national team star had intended.

- It was an incredible summer with a lovely rope. Then there was the feeling that it would be fun to come home and play for Linköping in allsvenskan. Then it was not at all what I had planned and it was disappointing for me not to be able to train and play, says Nilla Fischer to SVT Sport.

She still has not played a full competition match since August last year. Fischer has also suffered multiple injuries.

- The health is healed and the knee is good. Now, something with my right heel is inflamed and irritates me. I don't know exactly what it is but the problem is the pain level and being able to deal with it.

A new situation

Is it frustrating not to know exactly what the damage is?

- Absolutely. I am above being injured as it is a new situation for me. Mentally, it would have been easier if it were a rupture and to know exactly how long I would be gone.

She also has a clear theory as to what the sudden injuries are due to

- My own personal opinion is that it depends on the change from a perfect natural grass to a hard artificial grass. This has made the load different and I have not adapted to it, says Nilla Fischer and continues:

- From six years abroad, I am used to a perfectly soft surface and then come here on artificial grass that does not give the cushion. There will be much more wear and tear on the feet, unfortunately.

Aiming at the Olympics

Although she still does not play 90 minutes for several months, she aims to start the damall Swedish premiere in April. But at the same time, Nilla Fischer is aware that she may not be able to play every match

- It is clear that the idea has struck me that I will not be able to train every training and play every game. But now I think it feels better and better all the time and we get to see how the body reacts.

Are you worried about a few setbacks?

- Yes, since I've been away for so long. The last competition match was in August. First it was one foot, and then the other. I do not shout hello but take it day by day. But now it feels better and now it does not apply to believe that there is no danger. It's a new situation for me.

Right now the Swedish women's national team is playing the Algarve cup in Portugal. A tournament that Nilla Fischer had to refuse because of his injury problems. This summer, Sweden plays the Tokyo Olympics, which is a big goal for the national team.

- That is the big goal nationally. Then I have to be here and now to be able to go all the way. Now, first and foremost, I have to focus on what to do with Linköping as I want to help them perform well in the damall Swede, Fischer says and continues:

- But I definitely want to play in the Tokyo Olympics during the summer. That is a big goal for me.

Cut: The injuries ruined the season for Nilla Fischer
