Tunisian coach Nabil Maaloul arrived in Damascus today, Sunday, to meet the Syrian Football Association and finalize his training contract for the first Syrian national team.

He did not nominate any reference to the contents of the contract from the Syrian Football Association, and he said only on his official page that he would "begin to sign an official contract with him as a technical manager for our national team within days."

Maaloul will succeed former coach Fajr Ibrahim, whose contract expired at the end of last year, after he led Syria to the lead of the first Asian group for the double qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and Asian Cup 2023.

The Syrian national team leads its group after six rounds with the full score with 15 points, compared to 7 points for China and the Philippines, 3 for the Maldives, and nothing for Guam.

He will play the remaining three rounds outside his stadium hosted by the Maldives, Guam and China, but the date has not been decided yet that West Asian federations decided on Sunday to postpone the qualifying matches due to fears of the new Corona virus, pending the approval of the International Federation.
