Växjö is ready for the eighth final. Thirteen seconds of the start of the second period paved the way for a lead victory against Frölunda.

- We make a really good start to the period, then they push us down, says Växjö's captain Erik Josefsson to C More.

Jacob Micflier started the goal scorer when he gave his team the lead, 1.21 into the second period. It was only 13 seconds before Växjö extended its lead. Marcus Sylvegård was released and could calmly wait out Johan Mattsson in the Frölunda goal

- I see their backs lose my position, he says of his goal to C More.

Fight for the playoffs

Both Växjö and Frölunda are in the middle of the fight for playoffs - but at two different ends. Växjö's victory means that they secure the tenth place, which means the eighth final. Last round they won over Brynäs, who chases closest behind, and during the evening Brynäs went on a loss to Rögle which makes the distance unbeatable.

Frölunda, on the other hand, is chasing a chance to get back up to sixth place which means quarterfinals. Apart from last round's win against Skellefteå, they come from a heavy period and tonight's result did not go with the Gothenburg citizens either.

Chased feverishly towards the end

Although Växjö went up to 3-0 in the middle of the third period, it was exciting. Frölunda acknowledged twice and went up to 3-2. They lay in the end and took out the goalkeeper, but never came closer.

With three rounds left to play, Växjö is in tenth place and Frölunda is in seventh place. If it turns out when the basic series is played, it will be precisely Växjö-Frölunda in the eighth final.

- There are three rounds left that we focus on first, it's just to grind on the form and we'll see who we meet, says Erik Josefsson.
