On Europe 1, Wednesday morning, the president of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, Denis Masseglia, reacted to Paris Saint-Germain's decision to deprive Kylian Mbappé of participating in the Tokyo Olympic Games.

INTERVIEW

Paris Saint-Germain said Tuesday: Kylian Mbappé is not authorized by the Paris club to participate in the football tournament of the Tokyo Olympics this summer. According to the daily L'Équipe , PSG sent a letter to this effect to the French Football Federation last week. "What does the letter contain?" Wonders CNOSF president Denis Masseglia on Europe 1, Wednesday morning.

The president of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee hoped that this decision was not firm: "Is it final? I don't know," says Denis Masseglia. "Today, in the context which is that of the club, with the 8th finals return which we do not know if he will fight with spectators or behind closed doors, with a fundamental qualification for the future of the club ... ", he evades.

A relationship to change between IOC and FIFA?

As it stands, as coach Didier Deschamps reminded Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain has the right not to release its players for the soccer tournament of the Japanese Olympic Games, which will take place from July 23 to August 8. "FIFA has not classified participation in the Olympic Games as an obligation for clubs," said Denis Masseglia. "From the moment they have been left free to decide whether this participation should be made by them or not, it belongs to the clubs. If the rule has to change, it is in the relationship between FIFA and the IOC."

As an individual, Denis Masseglia prefers not to campaign clearly for the participation of Kylian Mbappé, 21, at the Olympic Games. "Do I want it? The IOC wants all the best to participate, and from there, we can obviously hope that the best players will participate in the Olympic tournament."
