The Confederation of African Football (CAF) imposed harsh penalties on the Tunisian champions, Esperance, in the aftermath of the African Champions League, following the report of Moroccan referee Radouane Gayed, who directed the team's match against Egypt's Zamalek in the first leg of the quarter-finals last Friday in Cairo.

Esperance will host the Zamalek team tomorrow, Friday, in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final, after losing 1-3 in the first leg in Cairo.

"Regarding the events that took place during the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League between Zamalek of Egypt and Tunisia's al-Tarji al-Tunisi, which was held last Friday in Cairo, the Disciplinary Committee decided after considering articles 82, 83.1, 83.2, 129 and 131 of the list," Al-Kaf said. Enough to discipline, suspended match manager Mu’in Al-Sha’bani four games, and a fine of $ 20,000 due to his aggressive behavior and the use of offensive words against the match’s referees. ”

He added that it was also decided "to stop the assistant coach Magdy Tarawi four games and a fine of 50 thousand dollars due to his aggressive behavior towards the match rulers and the use of offensive words and threats, and the suspension of six games for Khalil Melons and a fine of 40 thousand dollars because of the use of offensive words and spitting on the match rulers, in addition to stopping Abdul-Raouf bin Ghaith four games and a fine of 20 thousand dollars to use offensive words against the match officials.

El Kef also imposed a fine of $ 10,000 for the use of Esperance fans during the match.

Esperance squandered its lead in the match to lose 1-3 against Zamalek in the first leg of the quarter-finals, and its mission became difficult to snatch the qualification card to the semi-finals and continue its career in the championship.

The Esperance players, its coach and assistant strongly protested the referee, and demanded that it cancel the second goal of Zamalek, claiming that the Moroccan coach, Bouchrik El-Zamalek, made a mistake against a defender before shooting into the net.

Esperance played with ten players after Mohammed Ali bin Hamouda was expelled because of his misconduct with the referee.
