Östersunds FK is severely financially under pressure. In November, the club was also denied elite license by the licensing board. The club appealed to the Board of Appeal where they got it right. An important part of the decision was a sponsorship agreement with a Cypriot company of more than SEK 15 million.

But still no money has come in and earlier this week the club published its financial statements. This showed a loss of over SEK 40 million. ÖFK now has a minimum capital of SEK 20 million and the club now needs to get a plus result for the summer to avoid bankruptcy.

Review the regulations

Tonight, the Swedish Football Association's secretary general, Håkan Sjöstrand, visited the sports mirror. There he told me that the football association will review the regulations.

- I think it's good we have these independent bodies. But we also know that our regulations have been tested here, and it needs to be updated. At the annual meeting, the Federal Board will propose that the regulations on elite licenses be revised in order to make a possible decision during the repo meeting in November.

Does it have to do with what happened around Östersund?

- Yes, there is a background to this. We need to update and clarify the regulations, and that is the absolute opinion of the Federal Board. Therefore, this is proposed during the Confederation meeting.

What if Östersund goes bankrupt?

- It's a very important question. Östersund, as an association, has a huge responsibility. For stepping it into a series, they must ensure that they continue the series. They have this against their members, Swedish football and in particular against their Swedish colleagues.
