In early October, Linköping's Pernilla Winberg suffered a concussion, in a match against Djurgården.

The 31-year-old then did not know that she could not play any more during the season.

- I've had light headaches for four months now. The everyday works okay now and I've recently started working half time. It is quite complicated with concussions. It may feel good sometimes, but after a little easier training it has gotten worse and I have had to rest again. I haven't yet, after four months, started training again, she tells SVT Sport and continues.

- It was pretty tough the first two months. I did nothing and it was pretty dark then. It was very difficult. I am used to being very active and being able to train and work full time at the same time. I've started to be able to do some more everyday things now. It is when it gets long days that it gets worse. You have gained more understanding for those who have had real concussion problems after this.

Not sure about the future: "Want to play"

On Saturday, the season ended for Winbergs Linköping after the team fell 2-0 in the quarterfinals against Luleå. Although LHC's biggest star has not been able to train for months, she has always hoped to get back into play before it ended.

- I hoped all the way until we left. You don't give up but think it might get better. I wanted to come back before the season ended and it was a stress in itself that I think affected.

In 2006, Pernilla Winberg played her first Olympics as a 16-year-old when Sweden managed a sensational silver money. Since then, there have been over 300 national matches for the veteran, who also won the SDHL on two occasions. Now the contract has expired with Linköping and the 31-year-old has started to think about the future.

- Clearly you thought a little neighbor. But I take one day at a time and try to get better every day. I want to keep playing some more, so I hope it brings with it as soon as possible. I have to wait a few more months before I can make a decision, but if it doesn't, then you have to think about life after my career. Now that the season is over, I have time to rest and not have to stress. You feel a lot of frustration. I just want to play hockey.
