Italy has been hit hardest by all European countries when it comes to confirmed cases of the corona virus. Several Serie A matches have already been postponed and many of the league matches to be played this weekend will do so behind closed doors.

This summer, the European Football Championships will be organized by a total of twelve host countries, of which Italy is one of them. Three group games and a quarterfinals will be played in the capital Rome, which has not so far been affected by the virus.

Michele Uva, Italian vice president of the European Football Association (Uefa), says that the outbreak of virus can affect the European Championship if the situation worsens.

- We are now in a position where we wait. We assess country by country and football must follow the orders that come from the individual nations, he says.

The European Championship 2020 is played from June 12 to July 12. Sweden plays two group games in Dublin, Ireland and one in Bilbao, Spain.
