International Conference on Weightlifting Olympics Postponed February 25 17:37
Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, the “East Asian Championship” scheduled in Korea will be postponed at the international competition related to weightlifting participation in the Tokyo Olympics.
The Weightlifting East Asian Championships was scheduled to take place in Seoul, Korea on 28 and 29 this month, with players from eight countries and regions, including Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan.
Since the results of this tournament will lead to the points required for participation in the Tokyo Olympics, top players from Japan, such as boy Yoichi Itokazu and girl Mikiko Ando, were scheduled to participate.
According to the Japan Weightlifting Association, the organizer of the East Asian Federation reported on the morning of the 25th that the postponement was made due to the spread of the new coronavirus.
The new schedule is not yet known.
The Japanese national players were set to leave on the 26th.
