Deputy Chairman and CEO of Al Habtoor Group, Mohamed Khalaf Al Habtoor, announced that his organization will adopt the participation of five runners citizens in Zayed Charity Marathon, which will be held in Central Park in New York, USA on the 28th of next March.

Al Habtoor said in a press conference held yesterday at the Al Habtoor Hotel & Resort in Dubai, to reveal the details of the race, that his institution that sponsors and supports the marathon will adopt the participation of the five runners, while the head of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the marathon, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hilal Al Kaabi, called companies and institutions of all kinds. And its activities, to the initiative to adopt more runners citizens wishing to participate, and to benefit from the promotional services provided by the marathon free of charge, and without any compensation, since it is a charitable precedent not for profit, but rather aims to provide help and assistance to patients in various parts of the earth.

The conference was attended by the founder and chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, the well-known businessman behind Al Habtoor, who expressed his happiness and pride in sponsoring this marathon, which is associated with the well-being of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul.

Khalaf Al Habtoor said: "We hope that our young people will participate in this marathon, and, God willing, they will be at the best of expectations, and they will raise the UAE flag high by winning the first positions."

Al-Kaabi: Donations have reached $ 200 million

Mohamed Hilal Al Kaabi said: “We thank the generous gesture of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who honored the Zayed Charity Marathon. We also thank His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, who has the idea. ”

Al-Kaabi spoke in a brief history about the marathon, and said: “The marathon was launched in the UAE in 2005 with the aim of doing good and donating to people in Khalifa Hospital who have poor health insurance, and helped them provide their needs for treatment and medicine.”

He added, “The marathon moved to New York, and since then the volume of donations in New York has reached 200 million dollars, all of which went to charitable work in treating kidney patients, providing their needs of dialysis, medical operations and medicines, and these donations extended to Europe, to benefit the needy. All over the world. ”

Al-Kaabi pointed out that "the marathon received a certificate from the US Congress that we reached the highest ceiling for donations, and gave us a certificate for that."

Al-Kaabi stressed that the marathon is open to every citizen as an individual and an institution that wishes to participate, and promote its products for free, and we welcome their participation to present their accomplishments, because it is a charitable race, as the organizing committee ensures that they provide the appropriate place for them to display their products and achievements.

Al-Kaabi revealed that a video of the most important achievements of the state and its landmarks in general in the Time Square area will be displayed through very large screens, including the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Burj Khalifa, while the Emirates media logo and the Zayed Marathon logo will be placed on buses in the region for a month.

He emphasized that «20 platforms have been made in the park where the race is held, dedicated to the participating UAE companies, to benefit from it for a full day, and it is open to those who wish to participate from sports institutions and councils, including Al Habtoor Foundation, the number one sponsor, and (Expo 2020), and with us Also sponsors: Abu Dhabi Bank, Louvre, Emirates Airlines, and Etihad Airways, and we are working to facilitate the participation of all who wish. ”

Al-Kaabi announced that the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center had asked to participate in the marathon, and we would like to say “A thousand welcome.” He also revealed that a new version of the Zayed Marathon will be held in India in October, possibly in Kerala, at the request of India.

He also talked about the New York Marathon program this season, which includes visiting the New York Library and the New York Museum, pointing out that all tickets for participating in the marathon have run out after more than 14,000 runners have registered to register, in addition to the very large number of participants who will come on race day.

Al Marzouqi: We will display a rare photo of Sheikh Zayed dating back to 1957

Farhan Al Marzouqi, Director of the Institutional and Community Communication Department at the National Archives, attended the press conference for the Marathon, who told «Emirates Today» that the National Archives will participate in the marathon with a gallery of pictures and various historical documents, talking about the efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless him Praise be to him, in extending a helping hand to various countries of the world, including a photo of the late Sheikh Zayed when he was going to New York in April 1957, and the irony is that the image is in Central Park, the place of residence of the marathon.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center will participate in the race.
