Thobias Montler, who competes for the MAI, was a big favorite for the men's long jump in the Swedish Championships and clearly showed why.

In the third round he struck with a jump of 8.22. A hope that meant new personal best indoors, his former personal best was 8.17. Outdoors has a personal best of 8.22 - which he now tended.

- I had a nice feeling with me, so I thought it would be something good today, he says in the victory interview.

The only Swedish long jumper who jumped longer than 8.22 indoors is Michek Tornéus with 8.30. He also had the previous championship record of 8.15 from 2013.

Three jumps over eight meters

Montler showed a brilliant form at the start of the competition. His first jump measured 8.05 which he then followed up with 8.08 and 8.22. In the three closing jumps there were two overtrap.

Already in his season debut he struck with a jump of 8.10 and the fine form still persists.
