- Why did you decide not to participate in the mass start?

- Psychologically, I am very exhausted, and to flee in such a situation would, of course, be difficult for me. Nobody can affect my physical condition, but as far as the psychological attitude is concerned, I, as it turned out, am a man and not at all iron - I can survive quite strongly.

- The fact that you and Yevgeny Garanichev woke up on the relay race early in the morning already knows the whole country. What happened late in the evening?

- I knew that a representative of the Russian embassy in Italy was going to our hotel, our manager and representatives of those who had been examined in the morning, that is, the Italian police, were going. It was already very late, but they told me that I should sign that I was familiar with all the documents. I didn’t even look how long it was - except for the clock, I still have nothing. But it was either one in the morning, or even later. The whole meeting was very, I would say, kindly, answered very politely, no statements, no negative subtext, as it was in the morning, no one allowed himself.

- In the morning, it turns out it was different?

- Nobody was rude, but it felt rude to everyone, let’s say so. An opener knife was lying on my bedside table, you know, such "ten in one." When he was taken away from me, I looked in shock, I thought: “So, I mean that the criminal, apparently, is some kind of that they took away the opener with a knife from me.

- Have you spoken with a representative of the consulate?

- Very briefly. Literally three or four words. It was too late to talk.

- You made the decision not to speak at the mass start before the night visit of the police or after?

- I had thoughts on this subject after the relay - I understood that it would be difficult to perform in the mass start. And this morning I finally realized that I was not ready to run. The head is not ready - it is impossible to give up everything and concentrate on the performance.

- What are your next steps now? Will you try to return the selected phone, laptop now?

- Not anymore. To begin with, no one will give me an answer now for how long my things will be in the police. Therefore, I want to go home to my family as soon as possible and rest for a week, primarily psychologically.

- In the mixed zone after the relay race, you said that you did not even have the opportunity to enter information about your movements in the ADAMS system. How serious is this problem? Or should it be decided by the managers of the Russian team now?

- Nobody, of course, will solve this problem for me. But I remember well that everything is filled out quite clearly and well in advance: that I am in the Russian team’s location while the World Cup is on, then I’m at home for a week and from there I will go to the World Cup in Nove Mesto. As soon as I restore the SIM card, I will try to log into the system as soon as possible and update the information. But problems with this should not arise.

- In Anterselva, a topic was often discussed related to your personal trainer Alexander Kasperovich, according to whose plans you are preparing for the season. How much does your result depend on whether a mentor is present at the competition or not?

- Kasperovich and I are constantly in very close contact on all training and organizational issues, it is clear that he did his best to support me when he arrived in Anterselva.

- How important is this support for you?

- Any support at such moments matters and is needed by the athlete. Especially when it comes to the coach, and not about some stranger.
